About this event:
“Aonadh meaning ‘Union’ was formed in 2015 to perform the compositions of the pianist Alanna McCuaig. Hailing from the Western Isles, and a graduate of the BA (Hons) Applied Music course at Strathclyde University, Alanna’s compositions are a union and exploration of many different styles of music (and time signatures!) that she has a passion for, (mainly Scottish, Jazz, Classical, Salsa, World etc), with Scottish music at the heart. To her, music is not about the boundaries between the different styles; it’s about realizing that they all come from the same place and finding a unique, quirky and exciting way to bring them together. To play these pieces, the band is fused together with up-and-coming and prominent musicians on the Scottish folk and jazz scenes; most notably from the musical powerhouse that is Fat-Suit. Aonadh have just finished recording their first album of compositions with Steele Studios and are now looking to release and perform these pieces in venues around Glasgow, Scotland and beyond!”
Teckle peh! You’d be a fool to miss it; unlike many Stretched events this one is actually partly danceable to.
DJ is as ever supplied by Mark’s wonderful neddy iPhone.
