After a slight sabbatical we are back with an all new refurbished Bloc+! For those of you worried about us losing some ‘character’ there is nothing to fear…
We restructured the interior to be a little more practical for a busy bar, we have also improved the utilities and layout so it a more pleasing environment for diners and you rambunctious revellers.
Behind the scenes we also took the opportunity to improve the facilities for bands, DJs etc. The audio visual stuff is much better. The sound system is now a match for any comparatively sized venue. We have been gradually progressing in those avenues for the last 4 years. This was just a great chance to take a bigger leap forward and we hope you are ready to enjoy it!
We have a number of excellent shows this month in the lead up to Freshers and this weekend we have none other than Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite hitting the decks on Friday 5th and electro act Roman Nose teaming up with Dirty Marc for our monthly Deathkill4000 night which may indeed turn Bloc+ back into the shell it was before.
Food is one of the heatbeats of the venue and our very own Mad Chef has been working tirelessly on his new ‘Classy Street Trash’ Menu. The kitchen team is strong and the ideas are flowing. Having seen the new menu we can say it is full of some of the most innovative bar food in the city as well as continuing with the weekly offers that have made the place so busy. This will not only be about the food, but a few more special things coming your way!
Our gigs remain free of charge also, we allow a risk-free chance to see new music. We are adapting to the new musical economy. What is there to lose? Apart from your dignity sometimes.
Our label Bloc+Music is also back and our latest signing Felix Champion will release their debut record on November 24th. We will announce shows in due course, but in the meantime you can read more about them and our other previous signings here…
We look forward to seeing your faces again, you have been sorely missed…
